NRC begins expression of interest of 1,100 bidders for 2021 capital projects

The Managing Director, Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Mr Fidet Okhiria, has said that the corporation had begun the expression of interest for 1,100 bidders shortlisted for 2021 capital  projects.

Okhiria made the disclosure during the bidding of interest of contractors at Railway Headquarters in Lagos.

The Managing Director, who was represented by Director Operations of NRC, Mr Niyi Alli, said the bidding was done in public to expressed transparency and clear caught in line with the Procurement Act.

Okhiria said that after the technical evaluation of the bidders proposal saying that merited bidders would be selected for the particular projects available in the corporation.

He said that NRC was adherent to Convid-19 protocol that they allowed 150 bidders to come in at a time to witness the processing.

Okhiria, however, said that in two weeks time, the corporation would move to the next stage of the project processing after attending to all bidders for expression of bidding documents.

In his response, the Director of Procurement of NRC, Mr Benjamin Iloanusi, said they advertised the available projects on daily newspapers and the corporation website.

Iloanusi said that they received over 1,100 documents as a result of Convid-19, that NRC decided to restrict bidders  entrance to 150 due to the capacity available at the headquarters.

“He said that projects was also advertised on Federal Tenders journals while interested contractors responded through the advert.

” At the close of the seven weeks advert noticed, we now open their document in the public and in the present of some Non Governmental Organisation (NGOs) and the bidders.

“We are checking the eligibility of presented documents such as PENCOM certificate, Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Industrial Training Form Certificate (ITF) among others,” Oloanusi said.

Some of the bidders expressed satisfaction towards the open bidding documentation processing.

One of the bidders, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), High Destiny Security Ltd., Mr Daniel Tishene, said the opening of the project tender was highly transparent which enable him to made corrections on his documents.

Tishene said he was able to use the processing in submitting additional documents such as medical retainers, professional Indemnity Insurance Policy and other required documents by NRC.

The Manager Director, RightWay Insurance Nigeria Ltd, Miss Williams Damilola, who was hoping for good feedback from the tender of contract documents said the processing was transparent.
