BUA Cement empowers 50 women, distributes school furniture

BUA Cement Company on Saturday trained 50 women on business skills, disbursed scholarships to 30 students and distributed furniture to 24 schools in Sokoto communities.
Speaking at the combined ceremonies, the Managing Director, Mr Yusuf Haliru-Binji, represented by Mr Aminu Bashar, the Director, Plant Operations, said 50 women were trained on beautification and decorations skills.
He said the beneficiaries would be given starter pack to start their businesses as a way to promote self-reliance and boost the economic well-being of their respective families.
Haliru-Binji said that already, the company had awarded scholarships to 30 Sokoto students studying Science and Engineering-based courses in different tertiary institutions.
He added that school furniture, exercise and text books were donated to 24 schools within Wamakko Local Government Area and other communities within the company’s area of operation.
The managing director said that the company had engaged in numerous other community development projects as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
He said one of the priorities of the company was to complement efforts of the state government in providing community development projects across the state.
He appealed to the beneficiaries, especially students, to be serious with their studies as mechanism had been put in place to check their performances.
Speaking on behalf of the benefiting communities, the Chairman, Wamakko Local Government Area, Bello Haliru-Guiwa, said he was happy with what the company was doing.
Some beneficiaries, Zainab Bello, Asiya Nuhu, Zahradeen Aliyu and Bello Muhammad thanked the company for the gesture, and promised to make the best use of the opportunities provided.
