Nigeria moves to revive three power projects in Abia

The Federal Government is to revive three major Power Projects in Abia North Senatorial District, Mr Aaron Artimas, Senior Special Adviser, Media and Communication, said in Abuja on Saturday.
Artimas said the Minister of Power, Mr Sale Mamman, gave the assurance that the three Power projects located in Abia North of the state would be reactivated and completed in the first quarter of 2021.
He spoke during an inspection visit to the three projects
The 2×30/40MegaVolt Ampree(MVA) substations 132 Kilo Volt Ampree (KVA) transmission lines, which are located in Arochukwu, Ohafia and Ubur-Ihechiowa were awarded since 2001.
He said that the projects were abandoned more than ten years ago at about ninety five per cent completion.
The minister expressed disbelief that the projects would be abandoned at such levels and pledged that the contracts would be reviewed and rewarded for immediate completion.
” Mamman noted that the power projects were of immense importance to the people because they would not only boast their electricity supply.
” But also give room for expansion to cover the entire Abia Senatorial district,”he said.
The minister who was accompanied on the inspection visit by Sen. Orji Uzo Kalu of Abia North, addressed cheering crowds at the three locations and assured them that their long wait was over.
Artmas said that both Senators Kalu and leaders of the host communities expressed appreciation on the minister’s visit.
