How I received “Bendel Gari” in Abuja by rail – former EFCC boss

Former EFCC boss, Mrs Farida Waziri has expressed surprise and delight on how a Nigeria staple and one of her favourite meal “Bendel Gari” was transported to her from Warri to Abuja by rail.

Waziri said in Paris, France said it was a cheery and surprising” news to her when a relation transported the cassava flakes through the Warri-Itakpe standard gauge rail route.

The former EFCC boss said at the Nigeria International Partnership Forum attended by President Muhammadu Buhari to spotlight Nigeria’s immense trade and investment opportunities.

Np fewer than twelve ministers participated in the event also attended by business moguls from Nigeria and France.

Waziri said the President Buhari’s Administration had done a lot on infrastructural development which needed to be showcased more locally and internationally

“From what they have said here today, I know the milestones at which this administration has gone in terms of infrastructural development.

“One of my relations came to visit me from Warri and I said how did you come with Garri and all these stuffs? She said she used N3000 to take a train from Warri to Itakoe and then came to Abuja.

“I didn’t even know that there was such a train.

“A lot have been achieved and if they speak more, Nigerians will know more and members of the international community who love Nigeria and want to invest in Nigeria will be more assertive in coming to Nigeria.

“A lot of bad news about kidnapping, banditry and insurgency is what people hear, but the narrative must change,’’

The former EFCC boss she was happy to have attended the event which had opened her eyes to many things especially the achievements of the Buhari’s administration.

“This event has been very informative and educative. I did not expect that most of the Ministers will be here and what they said on the infrastructural development and the agenda of President Muhammadu Buhari.

I am glad I found time to come. I was invited, but I was in London to see my kids and I travelled by Eurotunnel not to miss it and I am glad I did because the event is very informative.

Even though I am a Nigerian living in Nigeria, I know more because  I wish the Ministers will be talking more about what they are doing in their respective ministry.

After more than three decades delay, President Muhammadu Buhari on Sept. 29, 2020 inaugurated the 326 KM Itakpe-Ajaokuta-Warri rail line for commercial operation as well as the ancillary facilities yard at the recently named Goodluck Jonathan Railway Complex in Agbor (Owa-Oyibu), Delta State.
