Mr. Simbi Wabote, Executive Secretary, Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), says the board has created about 300,000 direct jobs through contents activities in Nigeria.
Wabote stated while welcoming delegates to the on-going 8th practical Nigerian Content Forum in Yenagoa.
The four days programme entitled “Nigerian Content: Driving Economic Development and Sustainability Forward” started on Monday and would end on Thursday.
According to him, the board has grew the value retention for the oil industry in Nigeria from 28% to 70% as at today.
“The board has worked assiduously to retain $14 billion in-country out of the $20 billion estimated annual industry spend.
“We have begun in earnest implementation of the Nigerian content’s 10 years annual strategic roadmap; many industry stakeholders are already familiar with our targets, some of which includes the growing value retention from the current 28% to 70%.”
“Every year, oil industry stakeholders use the practical content as a veritable platform to share experiences, insights into new opportunities, challenges and successes made in Nigerian content implementation, as usual.
“We have gotten an excellent line up of speakers, representing the entire industry value chain to showcase the Nigerian content successes and outline the current challenges and discuss the outlook for the future.” he said.
Mrs Wemimo Oyelana, Vice President, CWC Group event Africa, whose organised the 2018 Practical Nigerian Content Forum, said it was a welcome development to Nigeria oil and gas sector.
According to her, the programme would provide opportunities for deliberation on peremeters required to sustain and increase Nigerian Content and extend the value added to other sectors.
