An Ilorin-based Entrepreneur, Mr Richard Olanrewaju, has blamed the closure of some business concerns in the country on inadequate power supply.
Olanrewaju, Chief Executive Officer, Leather Palace in Taiwo area of Ilorin, said that it would be very difficult for business outfits to survive in an environment where electricity was not stable.
According to him, the high cost of providing an alternative power is beyond what many business outfits in Nigeria can afford.
“Some companies no longer operate in Nigeria because of power failure. They cannot afford the 24 hours alternative power, to run their businesses.
“The Federal Government should help in providing stable electricity and the enabling environment for business to thrive in the country.
“Many businesses suffer setback because of epileptic power supply. We cannot tag them failure because it is never their fault.
“The fluctuating prices of petrol and diesel are not really helping matters,” he said.
Olanrewaju described Nigeria as a country with abundant human and material resources waiting to be tapped.
Olanrewaju, however, called on the youths to pay more attention to the acquisition of entrepreneurial skills and be creative in their activities, instead of venturing into internet fraud.
The chief executive officer urged governments at all levels to encourage businessmen, by providing the enabling environment for them to thrive.
