Alhaji Iliyasu Arzuka-Jega, Chairman, Kebbi State Board of Internal Revenue has said that introduction of Treasury Single Account (TSA) has resulted in accuracy, efficiency and accountability in revenue collection across the state.
He made the disclosure in an interview with Journalists in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital on Sunday.
Arzuka-Jega noted with satisfaction that influx of new technologies had really assisted the board by simplifying and making its work more convenient and easy.
Speaking on methods of revenue collection the board uses, the chairman said: “As you all know, we are now in the era of technology, so, all our collections have been diverted from manual to digital.
“In this circumstances, we found it very necessary not to be left behind towards ensuring that revenue has not been taken to another direction, rather, it enters government’s coffers.
“All our collections now have been centralized because we operate Single Treasury Account (TSA), where all revenue realised go in there, this has put an end to fund diversion.”
Arzuka-Jega assured that the board had seen significant impact of TSA, recalling that before, when the exercise was done manually a lot of revenue were not accounted for properly as “it is today, be it internal or external.
“Now, we do receive so many payments from Lagos and other states of the federation and in these payments we only see evidence that payments have been made on our platform of TSA,” he noted.
He appealed to people of the state to continue to give support and cooperation to the board to enable it discharge it duties efficiently and effectively for the growth and development of the state.
The chairman appreciated the support the board enjoys from the present administration under Gov. Abubakar Atiku-Bagudu which according to him, led to the successes recorded in revenue generation.
