{"id":54311,"date":"2023-11-23T05:00:05","date_gmt":"2023-11-23T05:00:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/?p=54311"},"modified":"2023-11-23T05:00:12","modified_gmt":"2023-11-23T05:00:12","slug":"nrc-sacks-demotes-staff-for-ticket-racketeering","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/old\/nrc-sacks-demotes-staff-for-ticket-racketeering\/","title":{"rendered":"NRC sacks, demotes staff for ticket racketeering"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Abuja, Nov. 23, 2023: The Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC), says it has sacked and demoted a number of staff found to have been involved in tickets racketeering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr Fidet Okhiria, the NRC Managing Director, said this at the interactive session of the House of Representatives Committee on Finance on the 2024\u20132026 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper (MTEF\/FSP) in Abuja on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said the corporation was working with the security agencies to address the menace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr James Faleke, the chairman of the committee, expressed worry over the meagre N345 million revenue remitted by the corporation in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur concern is that if we expect so much revenue from NRC and we aren\u2019t getting it, then there is a problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI think we should take the decision that the railway should be self-funded to take care of its operations and remit to the government the surplus,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n<!-- wp:themify-builder\/canvas \/-->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Abuja, Nov. 23, 2023: The Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC), says it has sacked and demoted a number of staff found to have been involved in tickets racketeering.
