{"id":51373,"date":"2023-07-07T05:19:57","date_gmt":"2023-07-07T05:19:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/?p=51373"},"modified":"2023-07-07T05:20:02","modified_gmt":"2023-07-07T05:20:02","slug":"nigerias-commissioner-for-insurance-thomas-elected-oaisa-president","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/old\/nigerias-commissioner-for-insurance-thomas-elected-oaisa-president\/","title":{"rendered":"Nigeria\u2019s Commissioner for Insurance, Thomas, elected OAISA President"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Abuja, July 7, 2023: Mr Olorundare Thomas, Commissioner for Insurance, Nigeria, has been elected President, Organisation of African Insurance Supervisory Authorities (OAISA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thomas\u2019 election alongside his Vice-President, Mr Issouf Traore of Cote D\u2019 Ivoire was ratified at the general assembly of the body in Tunis, Tunisia, recently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was the pioneer Chairman of the West Africa Insurance Supervisors Association(WAISA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, OAISA is an intergovernmental organisation, eligible for the rights and privileges granted by the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is saddled with the responsibility of promoting cooperation among African Insurance supervisory authorities to share experience in effective supervision of the insurance industry in Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The newly elected officials of OAISA shall serve the continent for a period of two years in the first instance and renewable once.<\/p>\n\n\n<!-- wp:themify-builder\/canvas \/-->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Abuja, July 7, 2023: Mr Olorundare Thomas, Commissioner for Insurance, Nigeria, has been elected President, Organisation of African Insurance Supervisory Authorities (OAISA).
