{"id":50813,"date":"2023-06-10T12:14:10","date_gmt":"2023-06-10T12:14:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/?p=50813"},"modified":"2023-06-10T12:14:27","modified_gmt":"2023-06-10T12:14:27","slug":"dss-not-holding-emefiele-suspended-cbn-governor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/old\/dss-not-holding-emefiele-suspended-cbn-governor\/","title":{"rendered":"DSS not holding Emefiele, suspended CBN governor"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Department of State Services (DSS) has denied widespread claims that it had arrested the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Godwin Emefiele.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Emefiele\u2019s arrest were widely shared online, moments after his suspension was made public on Friday evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DSS spokesman Peter Afunanya on Saturday said in a terse statement, \u201cCurrently, Emefiele is not with the DSS.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Director of Information, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Willie Bassey in a statement on Friday, announced Emefiele\u2019s suspension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPresident Bola Ahmed Tinubu has suspended the Central Bank Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, CFR, from office with immediate effect. This is a sequel to the ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMr Emefiele has been directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate) [Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi], who will act as the Central Bank Governor pending the conclusion of the investigation and the reforms.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<!-- wp:themify-builder\/canvas \/-->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of State Services (DSS) has denied widespread claims that it had arrested the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Godwin Emefiele.
