{"id":49555,"date":"2023-04-04T06:51:38","date_gmt":"2023-04-04T06:51:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/?p=49555"},"modified":"2023-04-04T06:52:31","modified_gmt":"2023-04-04T06:52:31","slug":"insisting-on-lasu-bread-only-violates-competition-law-fccpc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/old\/insisting-on-lasu-bread-only-violates-competition-law-fccpc\/","title":{"rendered":"Insisting on \u2018LASU bread only\u2019 violates competition law \u2013 FCCPC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Officials of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), have frowned at the plan of the Lagos State University (LASU) to sell only the bread produced by the institution, on campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr Babatunde Irukera, the Executive Vice Chairman of FCCPC, in his official Twitter handle @TundeIrukera, said the act is a potential violation of competition law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Irukera said that it is an offence under the FCCP Act to limit competition in that manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am afraid this presents a potential violation of competition law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dLASU is not exempted because governments are also liable when they engage in commerce,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile LASU on its official Twitter handle @LASUOfficial, had commended the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Ibiyemi Bello, for setting up a new bakery on campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bakery is part of her administration\u2019s drive to increase Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dThe LASU bread will henceforth be the only bread on the university main campus,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n<!--themify_builder_content-->\n<div id=\"themify_builder_content-49555\" data-postid=\"49555\" class=\"themify_builder_content themify_builder_content-49555 themify_builder tf_clear\">\n    <\/div>\n<!--\/themify_builder_content-->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Officials of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), have frowned at the plan of the Lagos State University (LASU) to sell only the bread produced by the institution, on campus.
