{"id":49027,"date":"2023-03-10T02:34:35","date_gmt":"2023-03-10T02:34:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/?p=49027"},"modified":"2023-03-10T02:34:42","modified_gmt":"2023-03-10T02:34:42","slug":"afdb-achieves-gender-parity-in-workforce","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/old\/afdb-achieves-gender-parity-in-workforce\/","title":{"rendered":"AfDB achieves gender parity in workforce"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The African Development Bank (AfDB) says it has attained Level 1 Assess in recognition of its commitment to monitoring, benchmarking and achieving gender parity in its workforce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bank\u2019s Vice President, Jacques Edjangue, who disclosed this on Thursday in a statement said it attained this with the EDGE certification, which it commenced in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The EDGE Certification is the leading global assessment methodology and certification standard for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&amp;I).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said: \u201cBy working to close gaps identified during the assessment, the bank will continue to expand its efforts towards creating a more gender-equal workplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;\u201cThe Bank is now EDGE certified at Level 1 (EDGE Assess), recognising the organisation\u2019s commitment to an impactful action plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt is also to accelerate its progress across the four pillars of the EDGE Global Standards \u2013 representation, pay equity, policies and practices, and cultural inclusiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;\u201cThis is a new milestone in the Bank\u2019s journey to join, under the leadership of our President, Dr Akinwumi Adesina, a global community of organisations committed to giving equal opportunities to men and women in the workplace,\u201d Edjangue said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the vice president, significant progress has been made on the Learning and Development front to empower women in the workplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She said AfDB remained committed to pursuing initiatives and procedures that promote gender equality within its institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She noted that in 2019, 83 per cent of the executive workforce at the Bank was<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>men.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBut within three years, the ratios of women in senior leadership had changed from 17 per cent to 32 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Bank has set a goal for reaching 50\/50 gender parity across its workforce in the near future,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Founder of the EDGE Certified Foundation,&nbsp; Aniela Unguresan, said: \u201cIt is with great pride that we announce the certification of the AfDB Group at the first EDGE Certification level, EDGE Assess.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe look forward to the bank\u2019s continued progress towards gender equality in the workplace as the organisation works towards the next EDGE Certification level.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<!--themify_builder_content-->\n<div id=\"themify_builder_content-49027\" data-postid=\"49027\" class=\"themify_builder_content themify_builder_content-49027 themify_builder tf_clear\">\n    <\/div>\n<!--\/themify_builder_content-->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The African Development Bank (AfDB) says it has attained Level 1 Assess in recognition of its commitment to monitoring, benchmarking and achieving gender parity in its workforce.
