{"id":47284,"date":"2022-12-20T20:36:12","date_gmt":"2022-12-20T20:36:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/?p=47284"},"modified":"2022-12-20T20:36:18","modified_gmt":"2022-12-20T20:36:18","slug":"uzodimma-presents-n447bn-2023-budget-proposal-to-imo-assembly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/old\/uzodimma-presents-n447bn-2023-budget-proposal-to-imo-assembly\/","title":{"rendered":"Uzodimma presents N447bn 2023 budget proposal to Imo Assembly"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo&nbsp; on Tuesday presented N447.4 billion budget proposal for the 2023 fiscal year to the state House of Assembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Uzodimma said the appropriation bill is tagged \u201cBudget of wealth expansion.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said the budget comprised N150.4 billion recurrent expenditure, representing 22 per cent, and N373.5 billion capital expenditure, representing 78 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2023 budget proposal is higher than the 2022 budget of N381 billion by N66.4 billion, representing 14.7 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The governor said the objective of the budget was to satisfy the desires of the people by delivering sustainable dividend of democracy and expanding wealth for Imo people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He further said that the budget would put the wellbeing of the people at the centre of governance through massive reconstruction of dilapidated infrastructures in urban and rural areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The governor assured the assembly of his \u201cundying support and commitment\u201d to the wellbeing of all the Imo people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said that there would be no room for misappropriation of funds in his government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He commended the house for its solidarity to his administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He pledged to \u201cvigorously pursue the implementation of policies, programmes and projects captured in the budget\u201d, when approved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Speaker of the House, Emeka Nduka, said that the budget presentation provided an opportunity for a \u201cretrospective look at past years with a view to improving on the future\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nduka promised that the budget would be passed in good time to enable the governor to \u201ccontinue his good work in 2023\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He expressed confidence that the budget would address the aspirations of the people by providing infrastructure across the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He further thanked the governor for the reconstruction of a \u201cworld class, digitised\u201d, house of assembly complex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said that it was obvious that the 2022 appropriation bill was judiciously implemented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, Deputy Speaker, Mr Amara Iwuanyanwu, thanked the governor for a \u201cholistic implementation of the 2022 budget\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Iwuanyanwu expressed confidence that the proposed budget would provide better days for Imo people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The speaker later adjourned plenary to Dec. 21 for the consideration and second reading of the proposed budget.<\/p>\n\n<!--themify_builder_content-->\n<div id=\"themify_builder_content-47284\" data-postid=\"47284\" class=\"themify_builder_content themify_builder_content-47284 themify_builder tf_clear\">\n    <\/div>\n<!--\/themify_builder_content-->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo&nbsp; on Tuesday presented N447.4 billion budget proposal for the 2023 fiscal year to the state House of Assembly.
