{"id":45800,"date":"2022-10-05T16:14:45","date_gmt":"2022-10-05T16:14:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/?p=45800"},"modified":"2022-10-05T16:14:53","modified_gmt":"2022-10-05T16:14:53","slug":"emefiele-calls-for-early-detection-of-problems-in-banks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/old\/emefiele-calls-for-early-detection-of-problems-in-banks\/","title":{"rendered":"Emefiele calls for early detection of problems in banks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has called for early detection of problems in banks and quick intervention to avert financial distress of depositors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a statement on CBN official website, Emefiele made the call at the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI), Africa Regional Committee (ARC) Technical Assistance Workshop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The workshop was hosted by the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Emefiele called for strong, effective collaboration amongst major stakeholders to achieve such early detection and intervention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He added that measures taken by the monetary and fiscal authorities have reinforced resilience in the Nigerian financial system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He pledged the apex bank\u2019s continuous support and collaboration with relevant stakeholders to strengthen the financial sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCBN will continue to collaborate and support the efforts of other safety-net players in handling crisis within the financial system,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said that Banking Sector Resolution Fund would be utilised exclusively to provide financial assistance to failing banks and bridge banks, as well as generally support any banking resolution process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Emefiele, the CBN is determined to ensure robust regulatory landscape without stifling innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He called for strengthened regional and continental financial systems for the benefit of all Africans.<\/p>\n\n<!--themify_builder_content-->\n<div id=\"themify_builder_content-45800\" data-postid=\"45800\" class=\"themify_builder_content themify_builder_content-45800 themify_builder tf_clear\">\n    <\/div>\n<!--\/themify_builder_content-->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has called for early detection of problems in banks and quick intervention to avert financial distress of depositors.
