{"id":45796,"date":"2022-10-05T02:17:43","date_gmt":"2022-10-05T02:17:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/?p=45796"},"modified":"2022-10-05T02:17:49","modified_gmt":"2022-10-05T02:17:49","slug":"second-niger-bridge-ready-for-use-by-christmas-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/old\/second-niger-bridge-ready-for-use-by-christmas-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"Second Niger bridge ready for use by Christmas 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Federal Government has said that the second Niger Bridge will be ready for use by Christmas this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ag Controller of Works in Anambra, Mr Seyi Martins, in Awka that the first phase of the Second Niger Bridge measuring 1.6km, had reached 95 per cent completion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Controller said, contrary to the news making the round that the project would be ready by 2024, the projects would be ready for use to travellers during the yuletide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to him, President Muhammadu Buhari administration is determined to ensure that travellers enjoyed stress free motoring over the River Niger<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said motorists would not be subjected to gridlock experienced on the existing bridge during yuletide this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe first phase of the project, which was the bridge itself, is substantially completed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe bridge project is 95 per cent complete and it is expected to be ready by December 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe steel guard rails are complete, the roads are set for vehicle traffic; the toll plaza area is almost completed, and what is left is the installation of toll booth canopies,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Controller said the bridge could be accessed from the interchange at Obosi on the Onitsha-Owerri road and that a road was being constructed to connect traffic on the Asaba-Benin expressway to it pending the completion of the second phase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe second phase of the project is yet to commence, but the government has deemed it fit that upon completion of the first phase it will be open to traffic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAt the Onitsha end, there is an interchange at Obosi along the Onitsha \u2013 Owerri highway where you can access the bridge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOn the Asaba end, there is a link road we are constructing to enable travellers to access the bridge from Benin-Onitsha road,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n<!--themify_builder_content-->\n<div id=\"themify_builder_content-45796\" data-postid=\"45796\" class=\"themify_builder_content themify_builder_content-45796 themify_builder tf_clear\">\n    <\/div>\n<!--\/themify_builder_content-->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Federal Government has said that the second Niger Bridge will be ready for use by Christmas this year.
