{"id":43914,"date":"2022-07-22T03:06:16","date_gmt":"2022-07-22T03:06:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/?p=43914"},"modified":"2022-07-22T03:06:21","modified_gmt":"2022-07-22T03:06:21","slug":"shippers-council-promises-to-resolve-apmt-maritime-workers-issue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/old\/shippers-council-promises-to-resolve-apmt-maritime-workers-issue\/","title":{"rendered":"Shippers Council promises to resolve APMT, maritime workers issue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigerian Shippers\u2019 Council (NSC) has pledged to engage the management of AP Moller Terminal (APMT) to resolve issues with the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Executive Secretary, NSC, Mr Emmanuel Jime, made this known in a statement signed by Mrs Rakiya Dhikru-Yagboyaju, Head, Public Relations, NSC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jime who paid an advocacy visit to Mr Adewale Adeyanju, the President General, MWUN, on Thursday promised to resolve the issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI plead with you to give me sometime to achieve this,\u201d Jime said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Responding, Adeyanju commended the management of NSC for various efforts in the maritime industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adeyanju expressed disappointment in poor retirement package Terminal management and poor retirement package APMT gives its employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adeyanju expressed disappointment in the attitude of APMT management and poor retirement package to its employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He told Jime that the union would look into his request and described Jime as an ambassador of peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, the District chairman, APMT, Mr Tunde Balogun expressed displeasure over employment of foreign workers instead of Nigerians by the company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Balogun decried the demotion of staff and employment of unqualified workers in order to accommodate expatriates in higher positions of the organisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also bemoaned the discriminatory payment structure of the organisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The union on July 20 shut down operations at the APM Terminals in Apapa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The MWUN is seeking to correct issues of poor welfare packages and anti-labour activities by the APMT management.<\/p>\n\n<!--themify_builder_content-->\n<div id=\"themify_builder_content-43914\" data-postid=\"43914\" class=\"themify_builder_content themify_builder_content-43914 themify_builder tf_clear\">\n    <\/div>\n<!--\/themify_builder_content-->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigerian Shippers\u2019 Council (NSC) has pledged to engage the management of AP Moller Terminal (APMT) to resolve issues with the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN).
