{"id":43232,"date":"2022-06-24T16:19:55","date_gmt":"2022-06-24T16:19:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/?p=43232"},"modified":"2022-06-24T16:20:01","modified_gmt":"2022-06-24T16:20:01","slug":"nigeria-moves-to-restore-power-supply-to-borno","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/old\/nigeria-moves-to-restore-power-supply-to-borno\/","title":{"rendered":"Nigeria moves to restore power supply to Borno"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Minister of Power, Mr Abubakar Aliyu says&nbsp; power supply will soon be<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>restored to Borno.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr Odutayo Oluseyi, the Assistant Director, Press, Ministry of Power quoted the minister as saying this&nbsp; when the Vice Chancellor, Borno State University, Prof Umar&nbsp; Sandabe led his management team&nbsp; on a visit to&nbsp; his office in Abuja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aliyu&nbsp; said that all efforts were ongoing to restore power to Maiduguri in about six weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to him, the Independent Power Plants projects are being handled through the policy on off-grid and mini grid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;He said that the mini grid would&nbsp; adequately cater for all renewables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;The minister directed&nbsp; the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) to explore ways in which the state universities would benefit from the Energising education policy of the Federal Government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking earlier, the Vice Chancellor commended the minister for his unrelenting efforts at reforming the power sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said the institution had been out of power supply since 2020 due to the insurgency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018The university has been on generators which takes a huge sum of its funding,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dThe generators, in spite consuming huge sum of its funds do not&nbsp; provide the needed electricity for the university operations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He appealed to the&nbsp; minister to ensure that power supply was restored to the institution with a&nbsp; promise that all power projects within its premises would be secured.<\/p>\n\n<!--themify_builder_content-->\n<div id=\"themify_builder_content-43232\" data-postid=\"43232\" class=\"themify_builder_content themify_builder_content-43232 themify_builder tf_clear\">\n    <\/div>\n<!--\/themify_builder_content-->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Minister of Power, Mr Abubakar Aliyu says&nbsp; power supply will soon be restored to Borno.
