{"id":42074,"date":"2022-04-27T16:30:24","date_gmt":"2022-04-27T16:30:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/?p=42074"},"modified":"2022-04-27T16:30:26","modified_gmt":"2022-04-27T16:30:26","slug":"economic-reality-affecting-insurance-patronage-association","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/old\/economic-reality-affecting-insurance-patronage-association\/","title":{"rendered":"Economic reality affecting insurance patronage- Association &nbsp;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Association of Registered Insurance Agents of Nigeria (ARIAN) says the current economic reality in the country has adversely affected the patronage of insurance products. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr Kazeem Odewunmi, President of the association, made the observation on Wednesday in Lagos. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMy assessment of the rate at which Nigerians are patronising insurance with the present economic reality is very low. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis can be improved if underwriters can design products that are pocket-friendly,\u201d he said. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to him, the average number of Nigerians with one form of insurance policies or the other is still less than one per cent of the country\u2019s total population. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The association\u2019s president noted that while underwriters and the regulatory body were trying to further deepen penetration in the market, they needed to do more. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Odewunmi said that insurance companies must design products for the low-income earners, who are at the bottom of the pyramid, such as the pepper sellers, mechanics, bricklayers and others. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He charged underwriters to carry agents along, in the design and launch of new products, to improve patronage. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cARIAN, as a key stakeholder in the Nigerian insurance industry from inception, is ready to move the insurance industry forward through our numbers, which is our strength. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFor example, we just inaugurated a social media platform that contains more than 20,000 active members. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLet\u2019s assume our members sell 50 compulsory insurance each in a month, this will be a great feat and will help more in the area of insurance penetration. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<!--themify_builder_content-->\n<div id=\"themify_builder_content-42074\" data-postid=\"42074\" class=\"themify_builder_content themify_builder_content-42074 themify_builder tf_clear\">\n    <\/div>\n<!--\/themify_builder_content-->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Association of Registered Insurance Agents of Nigeria (ARIAN) says the current economic reality in the country has adversely affected the patronage of insurance products. &nbsp;
