{"id":41419,"date":"2022-03-23T04:45:33","date_gmt":"2022-03-23T04:45:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/?p=41419"},"modified":"2022-03-23T04:45:38","modified_gmt":"2022-03-23T04:45:38","slug":"diesel-truckers-running-at-deficit-needs-special-consideration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/old\/diesel-truckers-running-at-deficit-needs-special-consideration\/","title":{"rendered":"Diesel: Truckers running at deficit, needs special consideration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Council of Maritime Transport Unions and Associations (COMTUA) on Tuesday said that increase in&nbsp; price of diesel has made truckers to run at a loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The President of COMTUA, Mr Yinka Aroyewun, said in Lagos that the increase in diesel&nbsp; price was causing increase in operational costs of truckers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Aroyewun, if the cost of diesel continues to increase, the cost of goods will continue to increase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAt present,&nbsp; there is no increase in the cost of haulage, we have not changed anything, we are just bearing the cost, many things are affecting the business and we are just running at a loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are at the receiving end because the business is no longer there as import has reduced and export is no longer available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are just bearing the effects and it is not helpful at all, it is dangerous to the industry,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aroyewun said that the council\u2019s national executive committee would meet next week to take decisions on the matter, adding that truckers would not continue to run at deficit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also called on the Federal Government to consider subsidising the cost of the product for truckers since they were rendering services and assisting the nation in the area of haulage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere is no way import and export will get to their destinations without us, and if this cost is in the increase and we are not assisted, things will go bad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAirline operators are requesting&nbsp; assistance from government, a kind of leverage we are also looking for, and we will be glad if the government can look into this,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n<!--themify_builder_content-->\n<div id=\"themify_builder_content-41419\" data-postid=\"41419\" class=\"themify_builder_content themify_builder_content-41419 themify_builder tf_clear\">\n    <\/div>\n<!--\/themify_builder_content-->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Council of Maritime Transport Unions and Associations (COMTUA) on Tuesday said that increase in&nbsp; price of diesel has made truckers to run at a loss.
