{"id":41315,"date":"2022-03-17T10:31:45","date_gmt":"2022-03-17T10:31:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/?p=41315"},"modified":"2022-03-17T10:31:49","modified_gmt":"2022-03-17T10:31:49","slug":"stakeholders-working-to-restore-steady-power-supply","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/old\/stakeholders-working-to-restore-steady-power-supply\/","title":{"rendered":"Stakeholders working to restore steady power supply &nbsp;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigerian Electricity Requlatory Commission (NERC), says stakeholders in the power sector are&nbsp;&nbsp;working assiduously to ensure&nbsp;&nbsp;that steady power supply is restored to the country. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr Sanusi Garba, the Chairman of NERC said this at a news conference in Abuja on Wednesday. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Garba said that gas supply had been restored to AFAM VI gas plant in Port Harcourt owned by shell and the Nigeria National Petroleum Cooperation (NNPC). &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201d There is also another plant that has just been completed on the same site,&nbsp;&nbsp;we recently had&nbsp;&nbsp;discussion on&nbsp;&nbsp;how that can also be brought on board to cover the shortfall in generation. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe had a meeting two days ago to see how NNPC&nbsp;&nbsp;and shell can expedite the repair of the gas plant so that it can ramp up to cover generation. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe also have the Niger Delta power plant and the Federal Government has invested in 10 new plants out of which&nbsp;&nbsp;eight are operational. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMost of them are affected by gas shortage because they have not&nbsp;&nbsp;contracted officially for gas.\u201d &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Garba, stakeholders in the last 24 hours have been discussing how the Nigerian gas marketing company can restore gas to those plants,&nbsp;&nbsp;so that they can also be operational. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cA&nbsp;&nbsp;lot of investment have been done in both generation and transmission to ensure steady power supply in the country. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking on the grid collapse which occurred on Tuesday, Mr Musilu Oseni, the Vice Chairman, Market Competition and Rates, NERC said that the commission was concerned about the occurrence. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oseni said that NERC had discussion with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN ) and some generation companies to ascertain the cause of the problem. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to him, the first collapse started from the 330 Kilo Volt Ampree (KVA) from the Benin axis of the network due to a trip-off caused by the conductor snap. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCurrently, Investigation is ongoing to unravel the cause of the trip-off and we are awaiting the final report, \u201d he said. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<!--themify_builder_content-->\n<div id=\"themify_builder_content-41315\" data-postid=\"41315\" class=\"themify_builder_content themify_builder_content-41315 themify_builder tf_clear\">\n    <\/div>\n<!--\/themify_builder_content-->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigerian Electricity Requlatory Commission (NERC), says stakeholders in the power sector are&nbsp;&nbsp;working assiduously to ensure&nbsp;&nbsp;that steady power supply is restored to the country. &nbsp;
