{"id":40718,"date":"2022-02-21T16:06:38","date_gmt":"2022-02-21T16:06:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/?p=40718"},"modified":"2022-02-21T16:06:41","modified_gmt":"2022-02-21T16:06:41","slug":"dubai-hosts-diamond-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/old\/dubai-hosts-diamond-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"Dubai hosts Diamond Conference &nbsp;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DMCC, world\u2019s flagship Free Zone and Government of Dubai Authority on commodities trade and enterprise has hosted its flagship Dubai Diamond Conference (DDC). &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The conference was held under the theme \u201cThe Future of Diamonds\u201d. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his opening remarks, Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, DMCC, announced that the UAE reached the top spot globally as a rough diamond hub, trading over USD 22.8 billion worth of rough diamonds in 2021. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The country\u2019s polished segment continues to grow at pace, closing in on the current market leader. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2015, the UAE has increased its rough diamonds trade by 76%, overtaking Belgium as the world\u2019s leading rough trade hub. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The total diamond trade in the UAE grew by 83% between 2020 and 2021, demonstrating both the industry\u2019s resilience and Dubai\u2019s critical role in the global sector. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dubai boasts direct flights to other diamond hubs across the world, including mining countries in Africa and manufacturing centres in India, resulting in a connected supply chain with Dubai at its centre.
