{"id":40514,"date":"2022-02-13T04:14:55","date_gmt":"2022-02-13T04:14:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/?p=40514"},"modified":"2022-02-13T04:15:00","modified_gmt":"2022-02-13T04:15:00","slug":"free-public-transportation-for-retirees-begins-in-lagos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/old\/free-public-transportation-for-retirees-begins-in-lagos\/","title":{"rendered":"Free public transportation for retirees begins in Lagos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Lagos State Government has promised to start offering retirees above 60 years of age free public transportation by the end of the first quarter of this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr Babalola Obilana, Director-General, Lagos State Pension Commission (LASPEC), said on the sidelines of the 91st batch bond presentation to 222 retirees in Lagos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Obilana expressed optimism that the free healthcare service for the retirees would commence before the end of the year as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are hopeful that by end of March or early April, we should have kick-started the free transportation for retirees, and before the end of the year, the free healthcare service should commence as well,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to him, the commission is in talks with the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRA) to design an ID card to identify the retirees for the free public transportation and health scheme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Obilana said: \u201cAt the moment, we are cleaning up the data to ensure that we have people\u2019s records such as names, date of birth seamlessly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOnce we do that, we will start with the free transportation, followed by the healthcare,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The state government, through LASPEC and Ministry of Establishment, Training, and Pension had promised to deliver these welfare packages to the pensioners since 2020.<\/p>\n\n<!--themify_builder_content-->\n<div id=\"themify_builder_content-40514\" data-postid=\"40514\" class=\"themify_builder_content themify_builder_content-40514 themify_builder tf_clear\">\n    <\/div>\n<!--\/themify_builder_content-->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Lagos State Government has promised to start offering retirees above 60 years of age free public transportation by the end of the first quarter of this year.
