{"id":40337,"date":"2022-02-07T15:39:26","date_gmt":"2022-02-07T15:39:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/?p=40337"},"modified":"2022-02-07T15:39:31","modified_gmt":"2022-02-07T15:39:31","slug":"group-tasks-nigeria-on-ailing-refineries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/old\/group-tasks-nigeria-on-ailing-refineries\/","title":{"rendered":"Group tasks &nbsp;Nigeria on ailing refineries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A socio-political pressure group, Advanced Level Movement (ALM), has urged the Federal Government to revamp the ailing refineries in the country to ensure undisrupted supply of petroleum products nationwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Haroun Ajah, the national chairman of the group, made the call in a statement on Monday in Abakaliki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ajah said that revamping Port Harcourt, Kaduna and Warri refineries would make them to also save lots of foreign exchange required for the importation of petroleum into the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He explained that the importation of the products would drastically reduce if not eliminated if the refineries were made to function optimally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said that the suspension of the subsidy removal should be an opportunity for stakeholders in the petroleum sector to address issues of turnaround maintenance of the refineries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The chairman commended the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration for withdrawing its earlier decision to remove fuel subsidy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe commend and appreciate the Buhari administration on the immediate suspension and 18 months extension of the petrol subsidy removal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis gesture is very commendable and shows that the administration is in tune with the current economic realities the country is facing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt is also a pointer that Mr President knows and understands that the subsidy withdrawal would have added to the existing hardship Nigerians are facing\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ajah called on the citizens to support the ongoing efforts by the Buhari administration to fix the economy.<\/p>\n\n<!--themify_builder_content-->\n<div id=\"themify_builder_content-40337\" data-postid=\"40337\" class=\"themify_builder_content themify_builder_content-40337 themify_builder tf_clear\">\n    <\/div>\n<!--\/themify_builder_content-->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A socio-political pressure group, Advanced Level Movement (ALM), has urged the Federal Government to revamp the ailing refineries in the country to ensure undisrupted supply of petroleum products nationwide.
