{"id":38267,"date":"2021-11-22T08:20:09","date_gmt":"2021-11-22T08:20:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/?p=38267"},"modified":"2021-11-22T08:20:11","modified_gmt":"2021-11-22T08:20:11","slug":"lagos-ibadan-warri-itakpe-railways-get-icrcs-nod-on-e-ticketing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/old\/lagos-ibadan-warri-itakpe-railways-get-icrcs-nod-on-e-ticketing\/","title":{"rendered":"Lagos-Ibadan, Warri-Itakpe Railways get ICRC\u2019s nod on e-ticketing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nigerian Railways Corporation (NRC) has received the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission\u2019s (ICRC) nod to begin process of selecting e-ticketing service providers for the Lagos-Ibadan and Warri-Itakpe standard gauge rail service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ICRC on Sunday issued&nbsp; NRC an Outline Business Certificate to enable it process&nbsp; online ticket sales solution providers for the routes under a Public Private Partnership procurement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Presenting the certification, ICRC Acting Director, Mr Mike Ohiani, said NRC could now proceed to concessionaire procurement phase for approval by the Federal Executive Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn the past, tickets were sold in physical store, or delivered to the respective railway ticket train station for purchase. In recent times, tickets vending machines have surfaced and have been improving the efficiency and productivity of train service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTechnological advancement in recent years has led to the emergence of mobile ticketing or E-ticketing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dThe overall scope of both projects is to design, finance, operate, build, operate&nbsp; and manage a secure ticketing solution system (Hardware and Software) for the passengers\u2019 stations on the Lagos \u2013 Ibadan Standard Train Service and the Warri-Itakpe standard Train Service,\u201d Ohiani said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said that the introduction of e-ticketing would reduce cost operation, reduce handling cash and multiple fare media types as well as minimising human involvement on board fare transactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ohiani said that the e-ticketing would help in collection of information, assist in improvement of service to passengers and provide platform for fare transactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking at the event, NRC Managing Director, Mr Fidet Okhiria, said that the concessionaire would operate the e-ticketing with NRC staff and handover to them with new replacement of technology after 10 years of operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He commended ICRC for issuing NRC with the business certificate, adding that overbooking and lack of seat would be a thing of the past with the introduction of e-ticketing on Lagos and Warri railways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>E-ticketing started on the Abuja-Kaduna Train Service in January this year after over two years of procurement process; it reduced cases of ticket racketeering which had dogged the train service earlier.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<!--themify_builder_content-->\n<div id=\"themify_builder_content-38267\" data-postid=\"38267\" class=\"themify_builder_content themify_builder_content-38267 themify_builder tf_clear\">\n    <\/div>\n<!--\/themify_builder_content-->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nigerian Railways Corporation (NRC) has received the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission\u2019s (ICRC) nod to begin process of selecting e-ticketing service providers for the Lagos-Ibadan and Warri-Itakpe standard gauge rail service.
