{"id":32851,"date":"2021-08-24T18:42:01","date_gmt":"2021-08-24T17:42:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/?p=32851"},"modified":"2021-10-07T00:43:39","modified_gmt":"2021-10-07T00:43:39","slug":"afdb-provides-7-3m-for-youth-job-skills","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/old\/afdb-provides-7-3m-for-youth-job-skills\/","title":{"rendered":"AfDB provides $7.3m for youth job, skills"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The African Development Bank\u2019s (AfDB) Youth Entrepreneurship and Innovation Multi-Donor Trust Fund has provided more than $7.3 million for youth jobs and skills.<br \/>\nAccording to a statement from the AfDB on Tuesday, the Youth Entrepreneurship and Innovation Multi-Donor Trust Fund provides project preparation and co-financing for bank projects and places emphasis on employability, entrepreneurship and job creation.<br \/>\n\u201cIn June and July of this year, an African Development Bank technical review committee approved eight project proposals to receive funding in an important milestone for its Jobs for Youth in Africa Strategy.<br \/>\n\u201cApproved proposals will receive grant funding of more than $7.3 million to operationalise their activities, creating several new enterprises and an estimated 20,000 jobs for youth across the continent,\u201d the statement noted.<br \/>\nThe Youth Entrepreneurship and Innovation Multi-Donor Trust Fund provides project preparation and co-financing for bank projects and places great emphasis on employability, entrepreneurship and job creation through enterprise and value chain development. The fund has also supported countries that implement policies conducive to private sector development and youth employment.<br \/>\nAlso in line with the bank\u2019s commitments under the 15th replenishment of the African Development Fund, the concessional window of the AfDB Group, the call for project proposals reflects the Human Capital, Youth and Skills Development Department\u2019s strategic intent to leverage and integrate youth employment and employability into the Bank\u2019s operations in African Development Fund countries<br \/>\nMartha Phiri, Director of the bank\u2019s Human Capital, Youth and Skills Development Department said the diverse range of themes and interests demonstrated the degree the bank peers understood in creating jobs for Africa\u2019s growing youth population.<br \/>\nPhiri stressed that this was an issue to be factored into operations across the continent.<br \/>\n\u201cThe Youth Entrepreneurship and Innovation Multi-Donor Trust Fund is increasingly viewed as a destination resource for financing our scale up efforts to create decent jobs for young women and men,\u201d she added.<br \/>\nThe bank in the statement further noted that several of the approved proposals were submitted in response to a call from the Human Capital, Youth and Skills Development Department (AHHD) through the Youth Entrepreneurship and Innovation Multi-Donor Trust Fund late last year.<br \/>\n\u201cBank offices, complexes  and departments from across regional member countries submitted nearly 24 proposals for committee review.\u201d<br \/>\nIt further stated that themes submitted included capacity building for entrepreneurs, climate change, gender, affordable housing, food security, migration and textiles, with the common thread of creating decent jobs for young women and men.<br \/>\nLaunched in November 2017, the fund promotes the creation of sustainable jobs for young Africans by equipping youth and women-led startups, as well as micro, small and medium enterprises with the skills, financial support and enabling environments to run bankable businesses.<\/p>\n<!--themify_builder_content-->\n<div id=\"themify_builder_content-32851\" data-postid=\"32851\" class=\"themify_builder_content themify_builder_content-32851 themify_builder tf_clear\">\n    <\/div>\n<!--\/themify_builder_content-->\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The African Development Bank\u2019s (AfDB) Youth Entrepreneurship and Innovation Multi-Donor Trust Fund has provided more than $7.3 million for youth jobs and skills.
