{"id":321,"date":"2018-09-22T15:36:00","date_gmt":"2018-09-22T15:36:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thefreezoneblog.com\/blog\/2018\/09\/22\/rivers-lagos-others-attract-foreign\/"},"modified":"2018-09-22T15:36:00","modified_gmt":"2018-09-22T15:36:00","slug":"rivers-lagos-others-attract-foreign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/old\/rivers-lagos-others-attract-foreign\/","title":{"rendered":"Rivers, Lagos others attract foreign investors"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-D6UjMliACME\/W6ZhVj_9q6I\/AAAAAAAADh8\/yt8nzKDATdcQ0XLY6TxYbtyxAHujgFDcwCLcBGAs\/s1600\/Nigeria-Investment-Promotion-Commission.png\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" data-original-height=\"401\" data-original-width=\"801\" height=\"200\" src=\"http:\/\/thefreezoneblog.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Nigeria-Investment-Promotion-Commission.png\" width=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white; margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white; margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\nNigeria Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) has reported that Rivers, Bayelsa and Lagos States are on of the top list of foreign investment destination for the first six months of 2018.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white; margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white; margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\nThe Commission explained that Rivers State received 35% of the $45.74 billion invested in 42 projects in nine states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) during the period.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white; margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white; margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n&nbsp;According to the report, this was followed by Bayelsa and Lagos states with 26% each.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white; margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white; margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\nIt said that the sectoral analysis of the investment profile shows that mining and quarrying accounted for 61% of the total investment and manufacturing 28%.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white; margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white; margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n&nbsp;Other sectors are transportation and storage, five per cent; real estate, three per cent; and the remaining sectors accounting for three per cent.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white; margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white; margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\nThe report also showed that the investments were from investors in 11 countries, with French companies accounting for 35% of the value, closely followed by Nigerian companies at 31%.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white; margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white; margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\nThe report said the UK\u2019s investment stood at 20%; Luxembourg seven percent and the remaining eight percent were from the other countries.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white; margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white; margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n&nbsp;\u201cThe top 10 announcements accounted for 43.1 billion dollars, representing 94 per cent of the value of the announcements,\u201d the report read.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white; margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"background-color: white; margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n&nbsp;&nbsp;The report added: The report gives a sense of investors\u2019 interest in the Nigerian economy in the first half of 2018.
