\nThe Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN)
\n has said the power outage in Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa, Borno, Yobe and
\nTaraba states was due to a tripping caused by a fault on the Jos-Gombe
\n330kV transmission Line.<\/u><\/u><\/div>\n
\n<\/u> <\/u><\/div>\n
\nTCN\u2019s General Manager, Public Affairs,
\nMrs Ndidi Mba, in Abuja also said the fault on the Jos-Gombe
\ntransmission Line occurred after the line underwent its annual scheduled
\n maintenance.<\/u><\/u><\/div>\n
\n<\/u> <\/u><\/div>\n
\nAccording to her, the line tripping occurred at about 19:09, on Sept 22 after it was re-energised.<\/u><\/u><\/div>\n
\n<\/u> <\/u><\/div>\n
\nShe said frantic effort was being made by
\n TCN line engineering crew to resolve the problem and restore the
\ntransmission line accordingly.<\/u><\/u><\/div>\n
\n<\/u> <\/u><\/div>\n
\nMbah, explained: \u201cTCN took outage on Sept
\n 22 to undertake the annual scheduled maintenance of the 330kV
\ntransmission line from Jos to Gombe.<\/u><\/u><\/div>\n
\n<\/u> <\/u><\/div>\n
\n\u201cAfter the maintenance work has been
\ncompleted by the combined engineering maintenance crew from Gombe and
\nJos transmission substations, the transmission line was reclosed and
\nenergised at about 15:09 hours Sept 22 at 19:09 hours.<\/u><\/u><\/div>\n
\n<\/u> <\/u><\/div>\n
\n\u201c However,the line tripped due to fault
\non the line, TCN quickly initiated the patrol of the transmission line
\nto detect and rectify the fault.\u201c<\/u><\/u><\/div>\n
\n<\/u> <\/u><\/div>\n
\nAccording to Mbah, as at18:30pm, of Sept
\n23, the line engineering crew patrolling the Jos part of the 330kV
\ntransmission line have completed investigations on the line, while the
\nGombe transmission line trace was still ongoing.<\/u><\/u><\/div>\n
\n<\/u> <\/u><\/div>\n
\nMbah explained further:\u201c The entire line
\ncannot be energiSed until both ends of the line trace have been
\nconcluded,once completed, the findings would be analysed and faults
\ncleared, TCN will then re-energized the transmission
\n line.\u201c<\/u><\/u><\/div>\n
\n<\/u> <\/u><\/div>\n
\nAccording to her, TCN sincerely regrets
\ninconveniences caused by the outage and apologises to the government and
\n people of the six north eastern states affected by the outage .<\/u><\/u><\/div>\n
\n<\/u> <\/u><\/div>\n
\nMbah said effort was ongoing to ensure
\nspeedy completion of the transmission line trace and faults clearance so
\n as to reclose and energise the 330kV transmission line.
