{"id":30037,"date":"2021-04-28T11:03:55","date_gmt":"2021-04-28T10:03:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/?p=30037"},"modified":"2021-10-07T00:24:48","modified_gmt":"2021-10-07T00:24:48","slug":"proposed-2-9bn-escravos-seaport-takes-off-soon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/old\/proposed-2-9bn-escravos-seaport-takes-off-soon\/","title":{"rendered":"Proposed $2.9bn Escravos Seaport takes off soon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The construction of the proposed $2.9 billion Escravos Seaport Industrial Complex, ESIC, would start soon as the federal government has approved its concession to Mercury Marine Concession Company, MMCC.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>The project is majorly designed to boost economic\/national development of Nigeria particularly, Delta State.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>The Chairman, Chief Executive of the firm, Rear-Admiral Andrew Okoji, who confirmed the approval, weekend, said the Federal Ministry of Transport has directed the firm to pay N1 billion, apparently to express its interest.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u2018\u2018It is going to be a lease for about 50 years, the investment for the port is coming from abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have gotten provisional approval from the Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Transportation, as they have told us to lodge in $1 billion as evidence of capacity to fund the construction of the port and, to lodge in your money, there are certain protocols that must be met. We are currently carrying out these protocols.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, is going to be part of the project. I think they are getting some percentage as regards to the equity.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I think about per cent, just for monitoring purposes.
