{"id":29265,"date":"2021-03-29T13:33:37","date_gmt":"2021-03-29T12:33:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/?p=29265"},"modified":"2021-10-07T00:24:33","modified_gmt":"2021-10-07T00:24:33","slug":"siemens-power-project-to-boost-power-supply","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/old\/siemens-power-project-to-boost-power-supply\/","title":{"rendered":"Siemens&#8217; power project to boost power supply"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tanko Mohammed<\/p>\n\n\n<p>The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) &nbsp;has reported that the Siemens Power Project driven by the Federal Government would improve power supply in Nigeria.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>AEDC\u2019s General Manager, Corporate Communication, Mr Oyebode Fadipe in Abuja.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>President Muhammadu Buhari gave approval to Germany\u2019s Siemens AG the green light to rehabilitate and expand the country\u2019s electricity capacity to 25,000 megawatts (MW) by 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Siemens and the Nigerian government signed a six-year agreement on the project in July, 2019<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur goal is simply to deliver electricity to Nigerian businesses and homes. Our intention is to ensure that our cooperation is structured under a government-to-government framework.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>No middlemen will be involved so that we can achieve value for money for Nigerians,\u201d the President said.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>The project will be developed in three phases. The first phase of the project includes increasing the amount of power delivered by additional 2,000 MW and significantly reducing losses across the grid with added stability and reliability.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>The second phase, the grid capacity is expected to be increased from 7,000 MW \u2013 which will be produced from the first phase \u2013 to 11,000 MW.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>While in the third phase, the operators will work on additional transmission and distribution assets upgrade and large-scale power project to increase the grid capacity from 11,000 MW to 25,000 MW.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Fadipe said that the Siemens project&nbsp; the Federal Government was pushing was progressing and AEDC is recognised in that project.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>According to him, quite a number of distribution sub-stations would come up, transmission networks will also be strengthened.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cAnd once those two are strengthened and it will also affect generation companies,&nbsp; so the project is a fundamental project in the power improvement plan.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cOnce the project is done, we will have more transformers in the network and more load will become more available and customers can also receive more power as it is coming.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Fadipe said that improvement of power supply was an ongoing project and the whole essence of privatisation is to improve the power sector.<\/p>\n<!--themify_builder_content-->\n<div id=\"themify_builder_content-29265\" data-postid=\"29265\" class=\"themify_builder_content themify_builder_content-29265 themify_builder tf_clear\">\n    <\/div>\n<!--\/themify_builder_content-->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tanko Mohammed The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) &nbsp;has reported that the Siemens Power Project driven by the Federal Government would improve power supply in Nigeria.
