{"id":28672,"date":"2021-03-05T18:38:02","date_gmt":"2021-03-05T17:38:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/?p=28672"},"modified":"2021-10-07T00:24:21","modified_gmt":"2021-10-07T00:24:21","slug":"microfinance-bank-pledges-n10bn-agric-support-for-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/old\/microfinance-bank-pledges-n10bn-agric-support-for-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"Microfinance bank pledges N10bn agric support for 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Moses Uwagbale<\/p>\n\n\n<p>LAPO Microfinance Bank (MFB) has pledged to expend N10 billion to support farming and agriculture projects in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Mr Oluremi Akande, the Head of Corporate Communications and Branding of the bank, made this known in Abuja.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>MFB was recently awarded as the Best Supporting Bank in the 2020 Agricultural Credit Guarantee Scheme Fund (ACGSF).<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Akande said that the award had recognition of LAPO\u2019s contribution to promoting Nigeria\u2019s agriculture sector.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>He said that the bank would increase its financial support to farmers from N3billion in 2020 to N10 billion this year.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>He further said that the bank had expended N27billion in support to farmers since 2012.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have been doing the ACGSF since 2012, and the award is in recognition of our contribution towards promoting the agriculture sector in Nigeria, and the impact we have made.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt also brings to fore that beyond savings; LAPO is also bridging the social gap and reducing huger.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cHunger and food deprivation are indices of poverty, and when we have food security poverty will be defeated.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have disbursed over N27 billion as at today.
