{"id":27920,"date":"2021-02-06T15:34:19","date_gmt":"2021-02-06T14:34:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/?p=27920"},"modified":"2021-10-07T00:24:04","modified_gmt":"2021-10-07T00:24:04","slug":"uk-commits-to-trade-deal-with-kenya","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/old\/uk-commits-to-trade-deal-with-kenya\/","title":{"rendered":"UK commits to trade deal with Kenya"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The UK has reaffirmed its commitment to the implementation of the recently signed UK-Kenya trade deal.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>The British High Commissioner to Kenya Jane Marriot said the UK government is keen to facilitate trade between the two countries.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>The trade agreement was signed in December in London by UK Trade Minister Ranil Jayawardena and Ms Maina to ease business without protocols of the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cKenya has 70 per cent of the flower market in the UK. Statistics indicate that in every three seconds someone in UK receives flowers from Kenya,\u201d she said at Ibis Farm in Timau, Meru County, where she was accompanied by Trade Cabinet Secretary Betty Maina and Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi. &#8220;We have had good trade ties with Kenya and it can only get better.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<p>It will enable Kenyan companies exporting flowers and fresh vegetables to access the UK market duty and quota-free.The high commissioner noted that the bulk of flowers sold in the UK are imported from Kenya.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Maina said Kenya earns over Sh40 billion in exports to the UK.
