\nThe first modular refinery owned by Niger
\n Delta Petroleum Resources with 10,000 barrel of crude oil daily
\nrefining capacity is to be unveiled in the first week of November.<\/u><\/u><\/div>\n

\nThe refinery in Ogbele, Rivers State is an upgrade from 1,000 bpd capacity to 10,000 bpd.<\/u><\/u><\/div>\n

\nThe Senior Special Assistant to the
\nPresident on Niger Delta, Mr Edobor Iyamu, stated in Uyo, Akwa Ibom
\nState at the opening session of a media workshop on \u2018Agenda for the
\nNiger Delta New Vision\u2019.<\/u><\/u><\/div>\n
\n<\/u> <\/u><\/div>\n
\nThe workshop, which was organised by the
\nNiger Delta New Vision in the Office of the Vice-President, had the
\ntheme: \u2018Partnership for regional development and nation building\u2019.<\/u><\/u><\/div>\n
\n<\/u> <\/u><\/div>\n
\nHe also stated that prior to the
\nunveiling of the upgraded refinery in Rivers State in November, a
\nground-breaking ceremony would be performed by the Presidency for the
\nconstruction of another 5,000 bpd modular refinery on October
\n 4 in Obigwe, Ohaji, Imo State.<\/u><\/u><\/div>\n
\n<\/u> <\/u><\/div>\n
\nIyamu stated: \u201cThe Niger Delta Petroleum
\nResources in Ogbele, Rivers State, has established an additional 10,000
\nbpd modular refinery. Civil works and installation of refinery are
\nalmost completed.<\/u><\/u><\/div>\n
\n<\/u> <\/u><\/div>\n
\n\u201cThe company already has a pioneer 1,000
\nbpd mini refinery in the same site and it is expected to be inaugurated
\nin the first week of November by the Presidency.<\/u><\/u><\/div>\n
\n<\/u> <\/u><\/div>\n
\n\u201cThere\u2019s also the Walter Smith modular
\nrefinery that is to be established with a capacity of 5,000 bpd in Imo
\nState. The ground-breaking has been fixed for October 4.\u201d<\/u><\/u><\/div>\n
\n<\/u> <\/u><\/div>\n
\nHe said the vision was part of the
\nFederal Government\u2019s 16-point agenda for the development of the region,
\nwhich was already being carried out in phases.<\/u><\/u><\/div>\n
\n<\/u> <\/u><\/div>\n
\n Others include the Ogoni
\nclean-up project, gas flaring commercialisation policy, and the
\nestablishment up of the Maritime University in Delta State.<\/u><\/u><\/div>\n

\nThe workshop, which is the third in the
\nseries, had in attendance journalists and civil society organisations
