{"id":27122,"date":"2020-12-24T13:09:28","date_gmt":"2020-12-24T12:09:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/?p=27122"},"modified":"2021-10-07T00:23:49","modified_gmt":"2021-10-07T00:23:49","slug":"expert-urges-strengthening-of-bank-of-industry-to-boost-low-interest-loans-for-farmers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/old\/expert-urges-strengthening-of-bank-of-industry-to-boost-low-interest-loans-for-farmers\/","title":{"rendered":"Expert urges strengthening of Bank of Industry to boost low interest loans for farmers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Moses Uwagbale<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<p>A Financial Expect, Mr Moshood Adeyemi , has urged the Federal Government to strengthen&nbsp; the Bank of Industry (BoI)&nbsp; to provide&nbsp; low interest loans that would be easily&nbsp; accessible to&nbsp; farmers.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>According to him, this will&nbsp; boost agricultural sufficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Adeyemi, a Chartered Accountant and Tax Manager, said in Lagos on Thursday commended the government for its initiatives to boost the agricultural sector.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Adeyemi, Founder of 2FM Global Resources and Chairman,&nbsp; Human Rights Violation Watch, Lagos branch,&nbsp; listed some of the initiatives to include tradermoni, farmermoni and marketmoni.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>According to him, these have&nbsp; so far impacted positively on the lives of the people but are&nbsp; not enough to make sufficient food available to citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf low interest loans are given to farmers for the purchase of farm supplements such as&nbsp; fertiliser, seeds and&nbsp; machines, it would go a long way in boosting agriculture which is a critical sector in the economy.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cMore importantly, government also needs to return to the market chain in charge of buying&nbsp; and providing&nbsp; finished farm produce to the end users; this will reduce much burden on the farmers,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>The chartered accountant&nbsp; suggested that government puts measures including palliatives, tax waivers and infrastructural development in place for individuals and corporate bodies<\/p>\n\n\n<p>He also suggested the provision of farm loss insurance cover scheme to encourage and motivate farmers to overcome the recession.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cMany people have lost their jobs as a result of the global COVID-19&nbsp; pandemic and it has caused the Gross Domestic Product and Per Capital Income to be on continuous decline,\u201d he&nbsp; said.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Adeyemi lauded the reopening of land boarders, describing it as a good measure needed to be taken to aid&nbsp; quick recovery from the recession presently being experienced in&nbsp; the country.<\/p>\n<!--themify_builder_content-->\n<div id=\"themify_builder_content-27122\" data-postid=\"27122\" class=\"themify_builder_content themify_builder_content-27122 themify_builder tf_clear\">\n    <\/div>\n<!--\/themify_builder_content-->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Moses Uwagbale A Financial Expect, Mr Moshood Adeyemi , has urged the Federal Government to strengthen&nbsp; the Bank of Industry (BoI)&nbsp; to provide&nbsp; low interest loans that would be easily&nbsp; accessible to&nbsp; farmers.
