{"id":27043,"date":"2020-12-20T16:14:56","date_gmt":"2020-12-20T15:14:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/?p=27043"},"modified":"2021-10-07T00:23:46","modified_gmt":"2021-10-07T00:23:46","slug":"afdb-gets-approval-to-borrow-10-4bn-for-its-2021-programmes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/old\/afdb-gets-approval-to-borrow-10-4bn-for-its-2021-programmes\/","title":{"rendered":"AfDB gets approval to borrow $10.4bn for its 2021 programmes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Tanko Mohammed<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<p>African Development Bank\u2019s (AfDB) Board of Directors has approved the Bank\u2019s borrowing programme of up to $10.4 billion to be raised from capital markets for 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>The Bank will continue to promote the development of African Capital markets with the issue of local currency denominated debt to facilitate the financing of its local currency operations<\/p>\n\n\n<p>This programme would allow the Bank to raise funds in the debt capital markets in order to help finance the Bank\u2019s projects and programs in Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>The approval was made on December 11, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>The African Development Bank is active in various international capital markets including the US dollar, Euro, Australian dollar and Pound sterling.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>The Bank will continue to promote the development of African Capital markets with the issue of local currency denominated debt to facilitate the financing of its local currency operations, alongside other initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>In the socially responsible investment arena the Bank continues to be active and a regular issuer of Green and Social Bonds, as highlighted by its award winning and landmark $3 billion, three-year \u201cFight Covid-19\u201d Social Bond earlier this year.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>The African Development Bank has also continued to use its \u2018High 5\u2019 operational priorities as a platform to issue 19 theme bonds, including \u2018Improve the Quality of the Life for the People of Africa\u2019 and \u2018Light Up and Power Africa\u2019 bonds.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>The African Development Bank is rated triple-A by all the major international rating agencies with a stable outlook and is also rated by the ESG (Environmental Social and Governance) rating agencies.<\/p>\n<!--themify_builder_content-->\n<div id=\"themify_builder_content-27043\" data-postid=\"27043\" class=\"themify_builder_content themify_builder_content-27043 themify_builder tf_clear\">\n    <\/div>\n<!--\/themify_builder_content-->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Tanko Mohammed African Development Bank\u2019s (AfDB) Board of Directors has approved the Bank\u2019s borrowing programme of up to $10.4 billion to be raised from capital markets for 2021.
