{"id":26755,"date":"2020-12-08T09:10:39","date_gmt":"2020-12-08T08:10:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/?p=26755"},"modified":"2020-12-08T09:10:39","modified_gmt":"2020-12-08T08:10:39","slug":"nigeria-world-bank-partner-on-2020-2030-strategic-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/old\/nigeria-world-bank-partner-on-2020-2030-strategic-plan\/","title":{"rendered":"Nigeria, World Bank partner on 2020-2030 strategic plan"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By Moses Uwagbale<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<p>The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment is collaborating with the World Bank to develop a Sector Strategic Plan for 2020 to 2030 to revitalise the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Dr Nasir Sani-Gwarzo, the ministry\u2019s Permanent Secretary disclosed this on Monday in Abuja at the 12th meeting of the National Council on Industry, Trade and Investment.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Sani-Gwarzo, who disclosed this at the Virtual\/Physical Technical Session, said that the plan would serve as a roadmap for a sustainable revitalisation of the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>He added that efforts were being made to digitalise the operations of the ministry and its agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>He said that this would be through the deployment of \u201cDigital Industry, Trade and Investment Platform (DITIP)\u2019\u2019; an Enterprise E-solution that could drive a fully automated paperless hub<\/p>\n\n\n<p>According to him, the ministry is embarking on the review of the Nigerian Industrial Revolution Plan (NIRP), while the Trade Policy investment policy formulation is in progress.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese efforts, when finalised and fully in operation, will re-invigorate the sector for growth and development,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>He also noted that the Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement (IPPA) with Singapore and Morocco had been signed, while efforts were being made with the Ministry of Justice for its ratification.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe ministry is also working to develop a coordinated approach to investment promotion within 25 states and FCT.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cEfforts were being made by all the agencies under the ministry to develop Post COVID-19 plans that will assist them to navigate the challenges posed by the pandemic,\u2019\u2019 he added.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>The three-day council meeting has its theme as \u201cRevitalisation of the Industry, Trade and Investment Sector in Nigeria in the Post-COVID-19 pandemic era.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Sani-Gwarzo said the ministry was promoting economic growth, job and wealth creation by vigorously implementing the 14 Presidential Priority Projects within the context of its mandate.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>He listed some of the projects as the activation of the private sector led six Special Economic Zones (SEZs) located in Lekki, Enyimba, Funtua, Ibom, Kano and Benue.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Others include collaboration with the private sector to create well-paying jobs for youths and implement a strategy towards lifting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Sani-Gwarzo said the implementation of these projects was expected to facilitate actualisation of the Federal Government\u2019s nine priority areas.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Moses Uwagbale The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment is collaborating with the World Bank to develop a Sector Strategic Plan for 2020 to 2030 to revitalise the sector.
