{"id":26066,"date":"2020-11-04T08:38:31","date_gmt":"2020-11-04T07:38:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/?p=26066"},"modified":"2020-11-04T08:38:31","modified_gmt":"2020-11-04T07:38:31","slug":"osinbajo-tasks-leaders-on-business-ethics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/old\/osinbajo-tasks-leaders-on-business-ethics\/","title":{"rendered":"Osinbajo tasks leaders on business ethics"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By Tanko Mohammed<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<p>Nigeria\u2019s Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has appealed to corporate leaders on the adoption and entrenchment of high ethical standards and good governance to engender business sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Osinbajo gave the charge at the Institute of Directors (IoD) 2020 Annual Directors\u2019 Conference which held both physically and virtually on Tuesday in Lagos.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;The Conference had as its theme: \u201d Business Ethics, Leadership and Sustainability as New Frontiers of Corporate Governance.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;Osinbajo said that good ethical behaviour, especially by those in position of leadership, remained an indispensable factor for organisational success.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>According to the Vice-President, organisations with good corporate governance maintenance culture and great stakeholders\u2019 relationship will enjoy the unflinching support of stakeholders and organisational prosperity.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>He stressed the need for corporate organisations to be socially responsible and environmental friendly.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cCorporate organisations that give out false information to stakeholders and practice other unethical behaviours are bound to crash and are bound not to attract favour.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cOn the other hand, organisations that uphold good governance and carry all stakeholders along are bound to obtain or receive the favour of the stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe must pay close attention to good corporate responsibility and its impact on the society,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Osinbajo also commended the IoD for its exemplary role in standardising the code of corporate governance in Nigeria.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Mr Chris Okunowo, President and Chairman of Governing Council of IoD, called for faithful implementation and vigorous commitment to the new business and corporate ethics as defined in various international and African regional standards.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Tanko Mohammed Nigeria\u2019s Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has appealed to corporate leaders on the adoption and entrenchment of high ethical standards and good governance to engender business sustainability.
