{"id":24589,"date":"2020-08-13T16:18:33","date_gmt":"2020-08-13T15:18:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/?p=24589"},"modified":"2020-08-13T16:18:33","modified_gmt":"2020-08-13T15:18:33","slug":"japan-confirms-oil-siphoned-out-of-mauritius-ship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefreezonechannel.com\/old\/japan-confirms-oil-siphoned-out-of-mauritius-ship\/","title":{"rendered":"Japan confirms oil siphoned out of Mauritius ship"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<p><strong>By DPA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<p>The Company responsible for removal of 3,000 tons of fuel oil from a Japanese ship, run aground off the Mauritian coast on Thursday, said it was almost complete.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Nagashiki Shipping confirmed that it had removed some 3,000 tons of oil from the ship, which had been transporting about 4,000 tons at the time of the accident.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>The vessel ran aground on a coral reef off the Indian Ocean Island on July 25 and had leaked about 1,000 tons of oil into the popular honeymoon resort\u2019s pristine coastal waters, home to rare flora\/fauna.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>There has been a race against time to siphon the remaining oil out of the ship which, authorities warned, cracked and at risk of splitting into two.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Earlier, Mauritius declared an environmental state of emergency, but authorities had been accused of being slow to act.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Japan firm confirms most oil are siphoned from ship, run aground off the Mauritian coast.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":24295,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[126],"tags":[95],"class_list":["post-24589","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-trade-and-industry","tag-mauritius","has-post-title","has-post-date","has-post-category","has-post-tag","has-post-comment","has-post-author",""],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v23.7 -
