\nThe Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi
\n II, former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has called on
\nSecurities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to educate potential investors
\nespecially women on financial services offered
\n in the capital market and other financial institutions.<\/u><\/u><\/div>\n
\n<\/u> <\/u><\/div>\n
\nHe said at the World Investors Week (WIW)
\n Stakeholder Forum held in Kano that such education would protect
\nprospective investors from exploitation and other people of dubious
\ncharacter.<\/u><\/u><\/div>\n
\n<\/u> <\/u><\/div>\n
\nThe Emir was represented by the Dan Majen Kano and District Head of Gwale, Alhaji Yahaya Inuwa Abbas.<\/u><\/u><\/div>\n
\n<\/u> <\/u><\/div>\n
\nHe said the appeal was also necessary in
\norder to enable them understand the various investment opportunities and
\n financial services offered in the capital market and other financial
\ninstitutions.<\/u><\/u><\/div>\n
\n<\/u> <\/u><\/div>\n
\nThe monarch said there was need for SEC
\nand Association for the Advancement of the Rights of Nigerian
\nStakeholders (AARNS) to educate people on the illegal activities of some
\n people who promised unsuspecting individuals abnormal
\n returns on investments.<\/u><\/u><\/div>\n
\n<\/u> <\/u><\/div>\n
\nAccording to him, the commission can
\norganise Investors Fair with a view to ensuring effective sensitisation
\nof prospective investors on range of financial services in the capital
\nmarket and other financial institutions.<\/u><\/u><\/div>\n
\n<\/u> <\/u><\/div>\n
\n\u201cOnce you are financially educated and
\nknow what investment is nobody can deceive you because in financial
\nmarket there are instruments which will give you fixed returns,\u2019\u2019 he
\nsaid.<\/u><\/u><\/div>\n
\n<\/u> <\/u><\/div>\n
\nIn his remarks, the Head, Market
\nDevelopment Department of SEC, Mr Bello Abdul, said the forum was aimed
\nat sensitising potential investors on the importance of non-interest and
\n commodity products investments.<\/u><\/u><\/div>\n
\n<\/u> <\/u><\/div>\n
\n\u201cThis is the second time the forum is being organised as it was first held in Lagos.<\/u><\/u><\/div>\n
\n<\/u> <\/u><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\u201cThe decision to hold this programme in
\nKano is borne out of the fact that a lot of commodities are being
\nproduced in the state while majority of the people are Muslims,\u201d he
