Wapic Insurance has introduced a scheme through which it would refund premiums to its motor insurance customers to cushion the effect of COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n
Ms Mary Agha, Company Secretary, Wapic Insurance, said the company took the decision because most drivers were stuck at home and unable to drive their vehicles due to the COVID-19 lockdown policy.<\/p>\n\n\n
She said Wapic was passing the benefit of reduced motor insurance claims during this period onto its existing policy holders, and that the refund would automatically be credited to customers with active policies at the end of the lockdown period.<\/p>\n\n\n
\u201cBeyond financial and other contributions the company is making to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, Wapic is serious about supporting its customers, particularly the most vulnerable, during this difficult time.<\/p>\n\n\n
\u201cThe insurer takes pride in always putting customers first and continually improving its services to deliver a unique and excellent customer experience,\u201d Agha said in a statement posted on the website of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE).<\/p>\n\n\n
Mr Aigboje Aig- Imoukhuede, Wapic\u2019s outgoing Chairman, was quoted by the statement as saying that, the company understood the plight of its customers.<\/p>\n\n\n
\u201cWe know that our customers are experiencing unprecedented circumstances and many are struggling to cope.<\/p>\n\n\n
\u201cWe want to recognise the sacrifice you are making by driving significantly less as you support our country\u2019s objectives in flattening the curve of the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n
\u201cWe want our customers to know they can Rest Assured and we will defeat this pandemic together,\u201d Aig-Imoukhuede said.<\/p>\n\n\n
Wapic Insurance Plc is engaged in the business of underwriting life and non-life insurance risks for corporate and individual customers, and also provides investment risk products for individuals.<\/p>\n\n\n
