The Nigerian Export Promotion Council NEPC yesterday inaugurated the Anti-Corruption Transparency Unit ACTU to stem all forms of corruption.
The Executive Director, CEO, Olusegun Awolowo directed that the unit should be reconstituted and inaugurated without delay, this is after being briefed on the need and importance of the unit in the organization.
He said, “You will all agree with me that corruption poses a serious development challenge in our society. It threatens sustainable administrative and economic development by infringing or undermining formal processes thereby destabilizing public confidence in government affairs. “
It is also in this light that I call on members of the NEPC – ACTU to put all hands on deck and conduct a corruption risk assessment by identifying vulnerable areas that are prone to corruption, proffer appropriate recommendation and also develop integrity plans that would strengthen accountability and transparency towards enhanced service delivery in the council.
He added that the NEPC is committed to being strategic partners with ICPC in the fight against corruption. The commission should also think of ways of engaging the NEPC- ACTU through continuous training and retraining.
