On May 23, 2024, under the chairmanship of Dr. Mohammed Al Zarooni, the World Free Zones Organization (World FZO) held its first quarter Board of Directors’ meeting virtually via Microsoft Teams at 17:00 GMT.
During the meeting, Dr. Al Zarooni briefed the Board on the outcomes of his recent engagements with the World Trade Organization (WTO), the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and the World Customs Organization (WCO).
Following this, the CEO presented a detailed management update.
A significant milestone of the meeting was the approval of the 2024 financial budget. Additionally, KPMG presented the 2023 financial statements and audit report, which received Board approval.
Committee updates were also a focal point, with the respective Chairpersons outlining their committees’ structure, scope, and activities:

· Jeffery Tafel: Policy and Governance Committee
· Dr. Manuel Francisco Pedro: Membership Committee
· Martin Dovat: Knowledge Committee

Furthermore, the Board reviewed the progress of the preparations for the World FZO World Congress 2024, set to be held in Dubai at Madinat Jumeirah from September 23 to 25, 2024.
