Osinbajo to commission fashion shared facility in Kogi

The Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, is expected in Lokoja to commission the state-of-the-art Fashion Shared Facility in Kogi on May 22.

Ms Yemi Balogun, Information Officer, Kogi Enterprise Development Agency (KEDA), made the disclosure in a statement in Lokoja on Wednesday.

Balogun said that the vice president was expected in Kogi for the commissioning of the largest Fashion Industry in the North-Central Region, under the National MSME Clinics Shared Facility Scheme.

The image maker said, ” the Fashion Shared Facility is a partnership between the Kogi Government and the Federal Government aimed at fostering collaboration amongst MSME Fashion Designers in the state.

”It is aimed at providing an enabling environment for the fashion sub sector in the state to grow into serving the international markets.

“The world-class facility will as well provide small and medium-sized fashion businesses with access to high-quality equipment

”It will also provide resources at affordable costs as well as training and technical assistance to entrepreneurs to help them grow and scale their businesses.

“The Kogi Fashion Shared Facility is equipped with high quality machines which includes; Four and Two Heads Monogram Machines, Digital and Industrial Suit and Shirt Button Hole Machines and Button Tackers, Coil and Tinko Machines.

“Others are Industrial Straight, Weaving and Hemming Machines, Industrial Pressers, Steam, Pressing Irons, Over-locking and Basin Machines and Industrial Button Holes Locking Machines Phoenix Machines and Digital Flix & Flock Cutting Machines,

Balogun said KEDA Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Hajia Rekiya Onaivo-Sanni described the initiative facilitated by her agency as “highly transformational.”

She added that the agency took delivery of 200 world-class manual and fully automated fashion equipment with a capacity to service 350 MSMEs daily and 110,000 yearly.

“The Fashion Shared Facility is purposely designed to reduce bottlenecks and provide practical and immediate responses to challenges faced by fashion designers as well as foster collaboration amongst them.”

She, therefore, urged prospective beneficiaries to see the project as an enterprise-friendly initiative that will promote economic growth and create job opportunities in Kogi.
