Governor Mala Buni of Yobe has approved the construction of roads totalling103 kilometre at a cost of N40 billion in different parts of the state.
Commissioner for Works, Umar Wakil, stated this while addressing newsmen on Thursday in Damaturu.
The projects, according to him, include dual carriage-ways, township roads and drainages across the state.
He said that the first batch of the project, which is 25.3km, would be constructed in five major towns of Damaturu, Potiskum, Nguru, Gashua and Geidam local government areas.
The commissioner said that the second batch, which is 62.5km, would comprise 22km Fika-Malori road, 18km Bukarti-Toshia road, 18km Jaji-Maji to Karasuwa and 4km Nguru-Karasuwa roads.
Other roads, according to him, include: Damaturu Kalallawa, Gabai (18km), Danchuwa to Garin Bingel (16km) and Nguru to Balanguwa (12km), among others.
The commissioner added that the projects were part of the Buni-led administration’s zeal and enthusiasm to improve the living standard of the citizens, both socially and economically.
