Peterside gets maritime safety award  

The efforts at making the Nigerian maritime domain safe for the shipping community has earned Dr Dakuku Peterside, Director General, Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) the 2018 9jaSAFE award.
 NIMASA,s role at making the maritime trade safe in the recent times was pivotal in Nigeria’s increased revenue generation from the non-oil sector of the economy.
 Peterside would alongside Mr Michael Ade-Ojo Chairman Elizade Group of companies be bestowed with the title Excellence in Leadership Award.
 Mr Femi Da-Silva, Coordinator, of the award told NAN that, the event which comes up on November 9 in Lagos was to recognise commitment towards workplace safety and that of the community.
 Da-Silva said that the NIMASA D-G and and the Elizade chairman topped the list of awardees because of their sterling leadership styles at security consciousness to the society.
 “Peterside is nominated for his pivotal role he has been playing since his appointment at securing the nation’s maritime domain that have brought piracy and kidnapping on our waters to non.
 “This purposeful leadership have led him to entering into strategic partnership with other organisations to enhance maritime safety in line with international best practice such as one with the Heritage Bank to educate stakeholders on global maritime benchmark.
 “While Ade-Ojo is a world-class entrepreneur whose footprints are visible across many sectors of the national economy through his auto firm have for decades made available to Nigerians vehicles that meet international safety standards,” da-silva said.
 According to him the event which holds at the Lagos Oriental Hotel will in other categories honour the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) Assistant Director Mr Umar Moriki.
 He said that others that would be decorated for their stride in Health Safety Environment (HSE) role were Mr Benson Egbevurie of Shall Petroleum Development Company.
 He added that Dr Gogomary Oyet General Manager EHSSQ Energy Limited and Mr Martin Agbili, Director Anambra Fire Service also made the list of awardees.
 9jaSAFE award is the initiative of the Safety Record Newspaper Publications instituted in 2015
