The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), is set to roll out a software for the collection of data to train officials in the states and local governments.
In a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer, Mr Christian Nwachukwu on Friday in, the software would be used for the horizontal Revenue Allocation Formula for the nation.
The Chairman of the commission, Mohammed Shehu said this in Abuja while announcing the take-off of its maiden tooling programme.
According to Bello, the tooling exercise is targeted at equipping selected officials of states and local governments in the country.
This also includes area councils of the Federal Capital Territory, with an in-depth understanding and operation of the electronic platform that the commission would use in data collection.
He said the commission was deploying the latest information technology tools to minimise human interface in data collection, pursuant to its mandate to review the indices used for the horizontal Revenue Allocation Formula.
He, however, said it would promote objectivity, transparency, justice and equity in revenue allocation. ‘’Our constitutional role requires nothing less from us,’’ Bello said.
Furthermore, the chairman said the commission had earlier concluded and submitted to President Muhammadu Buhari, a review of the vertical Revenue Allocation Formula.
The review, according to him, is to be forwarded to the National Assembly for promulgation into law.
The RMAFC boss also said the vertical Revenue Allocation Formula dealt with the sharing of revenue among the three tiers of government.
He said the horizontal Revenue Allocation Formula was involved with the distribution among states and local governments.
Meanwhile, he said officials from states and local governments would take turns on a zonal basis to undergo the tooling exercise.
