As farmers embarked on harvest in Borno, the prize of beans has crashed by 50 per cent.
A big measure of beans that used to sale for between N1,300 to N1,800 two months ago depending on variety now sales for N800.
The prize of other grains however remain the same, a development many blamed on flood that affected many crops unlike beans that is planted late and monstly on higher land that are not prone to flood.
Maize, soya-beans, and millet still retain thier prizes of N600, N1, 200 and N600 respectively, while local rice has even risen from N1,800 to N2,000.
“We are still hopeful of fall in prize as harvest continue, especially that of beans which yield is going to be bumper this year,” Adam Mustafa, a farmer said.
