Chinese stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.05 per cent to 3,263.8 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.38 per cent higher at 11,923.47 points.
Turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 771.3 billion yuan (about 111.9 billion dollars), down from that of the previous trading day.
Shares related to agriculture, automobile and precious metal industries led the gains while those in the real estate and power sectors suffered losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.09 per cent to close at 2,550.63 points.
