Production prices rise in China late August

Most of the capital goods monitored by the Chinese government posted higher prices in late August compared with mid-August, according to official data.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics,  50 major goods monitored by the government, include seamless steel tubes, gasoline, coal, fertiliser and some agricultural products mainly used for processing.

The bureau said that 25 of the goods saw their prices increased, while 24 posted lower prices.

Hog price gained 5.1 per cent in late August to 22.5 yuan (about 3.3 dollars) per kilogram.

The reading, released every 10 days, was based on a survey of nearly 2,000 wholesalers and distributors in 31 provincial-level regions.
