The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Kano/Jigawa Command, says it has generated over N10.1 billion revenue between January and March, 2022.
The Area Controller, Mr Muhammad Abubakar-Umar, made the disclosure at a press briefing on Thursday in Kano.
He said that the figure was higher than N7.6 billion, which was collected last year around that period.
According to him, there was a difference of N2.4 billion, which was a remarkable achievement.
He explained that the command would continue to put more efforts in enhancing revenue generation to enable the government meet its obligations.
Abubakar-Umar said that the command seizured items which included foreign rice, spaghetti, foreign soap, second hand clothing and donkey skin, among others.
According to him, the seizures were made at different locations under the jurisdiction of the command during the period.
The controller revealed that the Duty Paid Value of the seized item stands at over N498.6 million.
He said that the command would continue to educate and dialogue with local communities on the dangers of smuggling activities.
