FCT-IRS extends filing of annual returns

The Management of the Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS) has extended the filing of annual returns for organisations or agents to March 31, 2022 following the hitches experienced by taxpayers in the last few days due to server failure.

FCT-IRS Head of Corporate Communications, Mustapha Sumaila, announced this in a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday.

According to the statement, the initial deadline for the filing of annual returns for the employers, agents or organisations was January 31 but the extension is necessitated by the technical challenges.

It said, “the management however, apologises to its esteemed taxpayers for the difficulty and challenges experienced in the process of payment and other services via the online channels in the past few days due to an unexpected downtime on its server.”

It further said that the FCT-IRS deeply regretted the inconveniences that this might have caused esteemed taxpayers.

The Service added that it was committed to all its valued taxpayers, and would continue to work hard to improve its abilities to serve them better.

Meanwhile, the management said it was pleased to inform the taxpayers that the server downtime issue has been resolved and they could now make payment with ease.
